Ivo Vojnović (9 October 1857 – 30 August 1929) was a Croatian writer from Dubrovnik. The city of his birth and its history had an important influence on his later literary work. Vojnović was the author of dramas of naturalistic cut, inspired by the literary and patriotic traditions of the Republic of Dubrovnik. He is well known for his "Dubrovnik Trilogy" (Zagreb, 1902), the book that describes the fall of the Dubrovnik Republic. "Masquerades Under the Roofing Tiles" (also known as "Dance of Masks in the Attic", 1922) reflects the influence of Luigi Pirandello on Vojnović.

In this drama directed by Paolo Tišljarić, Vojnović as author is preoccupied with the decline of the aristocracy. He searches sentimental - poetic moods and harmony of opposites, interwoven with extensive prose commentaries and didactic works. He focused his interest on the humanization of the aristocracy 's attitude towards the people, to their own servants.
